Hello -
We need help in reaching our target audience: (in order of priority)
1. the primary grade teacher
2. primary care pediatrician
3. pediatric optometrists
4. parents of young children
My son was in the 4th grade before we clearly understood that he was profoundly colorblind. He had just failed "geology - rock identification" and was once again having an inexplicably hard time enjoying the classroom experience.
Once we identified his colorblindness, we and his teachers were able to improve my son's school enjoyment by being sensitive to his inability to distinguish many colors. He never failed another elementary school test!!
I have designed a COLORBLINDNESS TESTING POSTER that I wish to see distributed to primary care pediatricians and primary school teachers. You may see the Ishihara-correct poster at:

COLORBLINDNESS TESTING POSTER FOR THE CLASSROOM
Dear Elementary School Teacher!!
Colorblindness can be a very traumatic and disabling experience for the elementary school student. Imagine not being able to see and understand what all of your classmates seem to readily see and understand; and then quietly struggling to hide that fact even from the teacher. "What's wrong with me!!??" he says to himself.
Our website displays a 36" by 24" colorblindness testing poster to help the teacher calmly spot the colorblind student in his/her class. Many school teachers are finding that our poster is a very useful tool in the classroom!
LETTER TO THE PEDIATRICIAN
Children of the age of 5 or 6 years test very well with the poster!! Early diagnosis of the affected child and formal notification to his elementary school teachers will uniquely strengthen the child/teacher bond and protect/enhance the child's early learning experiences in school.
Our poster is to be placed in the pediatric waiting room and not in the pediatrician's examining room!!
This poster was designed to allow the parents the active role of initially screening their children for colorblindness. Only when the parent informs the doctor that her child cannot see the figures in the poster would the doctor become involved in more extensive testing, using the traditional Ishihara color plates. Our poster correlates well with the "clinically approved" Ishihara test.
Only 7 percent of male children test positive for the most common form of colorblindness involving the red/green cone receptor genes on their single X-chromosome. Experience tells us that the pediatrician is too busy to personally screen all his patients to find this positive 7 percent. The pediatrician needs our poster in his waiting room to allow initial screening by the parent.
We suggest placing a small sign below our poster, prompting notice by the parent!!
